It’s safe to say that winter is officially here in Michigan after the state was covered in feet of snow in just under 30 hours. From 5 PM on Wednesday until 1 AM on Friday, different parts of the state saw a massive amount of snow, which caused many issues on the highways.

On Thursday alone, I-94 was a disaster from Jackson to Benton Harbor, as well as US-31. Some cities are reporting that they got easily more than a foot of snow, as a winter storm warning has officially come to an end.

This was the first big snowstorm to hit both the Upper Peninsula and the Lower Peninsula, but no doubt one of many that we will receive this winter season. So when is the next big snowstorm expected to hit?

Although that is a difficult question to answer, the best thing we can do is keep an eye on the news and consider what the meteorologists are attempting to predict.

Because weather patterns can change so quickly it’s hard to know too far out when the next snowstorm will come. However, according to Farmer's Almanac for the 2024 through 2025 winter season, Michigan is expected to have some heavy snow.

They say there will be a snowstorm at the end of December, at the end of January, and at the end of February. We may be getting a little snow next week, but nothing substantial. You very may well want to keep an eye on the weather around Christmas and the week after, so we are prepared for the next ultra weather warning.
