What Does Kalamazoo Smell Like Near Parchment?
Every morning that I come to work it's the same thing. If I could drive blind, I could tell you the exact moment Kalamazoo Ave turns into Riverview Dr based on the smell. The area of Kalamazoo just south of where Parchment begins, near the Northside of the city, has a very distinct smell to it. We all know WHY that smell lingers there, but what exactly IS that smell?
Well, my friends, I think I've locked it down. If I were to make a candle and label it "That Parchment-Area Smell" what would be the most identifiable fragrance? Well here it is, and see if you agree with me...
That Parchment-Area Smell
Boiling Cardboard. I don't know what it is the source of the smell is doing to create the stench, but in my opinion, according to my nose, it smells like someone is boiling old cardboard. So the next time you're in the area and you smell it, see if you can detect that scent.
Other people have their own opinions of what it smells like, and it still ain't pretty:
Farts & Chemicals
Someone thought that was funny enough to elaborate on the long-time issue:
It's been that way for as long as I can remember, my Dad would always say that the Dutchman were burning the raisins again.
Sadly, this is an issue I don't think will ever go away, and I feel sorry for people who are always living within the smell range of the area.
