These 5 Traits Make The Most Toxic Workplaces In Michigan
No matter where you work in the state of Michigan, there are always going to be those places that will leave a negative lasting impact on your life. Once we all make it to the job that we’ve always wanted, we look back at some of the prior workplaces we’ve been to and realize just how toxic it can be.
As someone who worked in the restaurant industry for over 15 years, I can tell you that many toxic relationships, conversations, and cultures were a part of these places that just don’t fit who I am as a person.

When we become trapped in these places, we become trapped in that negative culture that can lead to a complete Lack of satisfaction for working there. There is no doubt that Michigan has a lot of places and people that bring these negative energies into the workplace.
Recently, an article from Niche Academy laid down what they found to be the five signs that we work in a toxic environment:
Rumors
If you find yourself in a workplace where rumors are commonplace, you can be sure that needed communication is not happening.
Gossip
An organization is toxic to whatever degree its members spend energy fighting with each other instead of fighting for shared goals.
Micromanagement
A team’s progress toward its goals is hampered to whatever degree it operates without trust.
Low Morale
Low morale is the product of bad relationships inside an organization. It happens when people don’t feel appreciated, recognized, or included.
High Turnover Rate
Healthy organizations tend to see less turnover compared to less healthy peers in their sector, region, and line of work.
