Kalamazoo Authorities Investigating After Infant Dies

Kalamazoo area authorities are investigating after an infant died at home Tuesday.

MLive reports that around 4:20pm Tuesday, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Crews were called to a home in the 500 block of Phelps St. There, authorities found a 7-month-old girl unresponsive, and began life-saving measures before taking the child to Borgess hospital.

The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital. At this time, the cause of death cannot be determined, but investigators say that the child was in the tub when it stopped breathing.

An autopsy has been planned, and the investigation is still active.
