Legally Blonde, the 2001 movie that led to a 2007 musical is being presented at Kalamazoo Central this weekend.

The show times are Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon at 3:00, the Kalamazoo Central Auditorium.

The original Broadway production, which was directed by Paw Paw's Jerry Mitchell, was nominated for seven Tony awards. The lead character, Elle Woods, was first played on Broadway by Laura Bell Bundy. The movie version of the musical was also performed for MTV and became the basis of a reality show on who would replace Bell Bundy in the lead.

The story itself is capsulized this way, according the Kalamazoo Central.

“Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.” - Kalamazoo Central Music Department
