The 11th annual Kalamazoo Improv Fest is this weekend, at Farmers Alley downtown.

In the past eleven years, more than a few performers have gone on to bigger things, including Steve Yeun from the Walking Dead, SNL perfomers, Paul Brittain, Alex Moffatt, Luke Null, plus numerous performers from Chicago's Second City Main Stage.

Teams from Chicago, Grand Rapids, Detroit, Toledo, and Kalamazoo will perform scenes that will leave you laughing your rump off; all made up completely on the spot using suggestions from the audience. This year, the Fest features such teams as After Party, the first musical improv team featured at the Fest. Veteran Second City instructor and performer Kevin Reome will be bringing his wit and wisdom to the Fest. Shows will feature local improv favorites like Crawlspace Eviction, Family Secret and Small Victories. It’s a non-stop weekend of laughter. - Kalamazoo Improv Fest release

Shows will be Friday night and Saturday. And the very first show is intriquing. At 5:30pm, the event will start with "The Superstar Super Show - We’ll interview local Kalamazoo superstar Von Washington Jr, Executive Director of Community Relations for the Kalamazoo Promise, and then watch an improv set inspired by his life."

Following that will be improv sets at 7:30pm, 9:30pm. Then there are improv workshops on Saturday, at 10pm and 1pm with experienced improv teachers. Then the second night of the festival has shows at 5:30pm, 7:30pm and 9:30pm.

While the shows are at Farmers Alley, the workshops are at the First Baptist Church building at 315 W. Michigan Ave.
