A man sent to the hospital after a rollover crash Sunday in Kalamazoo will also be looking at drunk driving charges.

In a press release Monday, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that officers responded to the area of Douglas and Paterson around 4am Sunday. Authorities found a vehicle crashed onto its roof, with a 23-year-old man trapped inside.

Fire crews used hydraulic tools to cut an opening into the vehicle, allowing the injured but alert driver to escape.  The man was taken to the hospital for treatment, and will be charged with operating while intoxicated and driving without a license.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
