A Kalamazoo man who pleaded guilty to murder has now been sentenced.

30-year-old Timothy Salo appeared in a Kalamazoo Court Tuesday, and was sentenced to 18 to 40 years in prison, for a charge of second degree murder.  Salo had entered a guilty plea last month, and that led to charges of felony firearm being dropped.

Salo was arrested after his brother-in-law, Jason Vanostran, was found dead in the Kalamazoo Township residence they shared in April 2014.

Salo says that the shooting was an accident.
