Kalamazoo Police ID Murder Victim, SWAT Team Arrests Suspect
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety has identified the man who was murdered early Sunday morning on Kalamazoo's near North side. At the same time, they announced that a suspect has been taken into custody.
WOOD-TV 8 is reporting that KDPS has identified the victim as 32 year old Cordaro Lorenzo Deere. Deere was found near Douglas Avenue and Blakeslee. He died later at a local hospital.
Also, this morning, Kalamazoo officers along with Michigan State Police officers and a SWAT team, executed a warrant and took a 32 year old Kalamazoo man into custody related to the murder. That suspect has not been identified, but will be after being formally charged. It is expected he will be facing charges of open murder, felony firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The alleged suspect is currently being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
