Three new exhibitions are coming to the Kalamazoo Institute of Art this fall, and to celebrate, they're kicking off the season with an Opening Day Community Party, Saturday, September 14th. Take advantage of free admission between 11:00am and 5:00pm, and bring the whole family for fun and educational activities between 11:00am and 3:00pm, like Art Detective and Drop-In Story Time. Stick around for performances by Trinity Prep Youth Dancers and a spoken word piece from Where We Stand artist and poet Tanisha Pyron.

Southwest Michigan artists Brent Harris, James C. Palmore, and Al Harris have come together for Where We Stand: Black Artists in Southwest Michigan.  It joins two other exhibits, Black Refractions: Highlights from The Studio Museum in Harlem, and Resilience: African American Artists as Agents of Change, all of which are on display September 14th through December 8th.
