Three people were arrested Wednesday afternoon in Kalamazoo after an officer observed a drive-by shooting.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that they had received reports of a shootout around 3pm Wednesday, at the intersection of Ada and Woodbury Streets. No one was there, but an officer did stick around, and around 4pm he saw a van drive past a home with several shots fired from it.

The officer pursued the fleeing van, and eventually two of its occupants jumped out on a dead end street. One tried to ditch a gun into a dumpster, while the other hung on to a second firearm; those two, along with a third person who stayed in the van, were all caught and arrested. The suspects, a 30-year-old man, 25-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, are facing multiple charges.

If anyone was hurt as a result of the shootings, the KDPS hasn’t located them. Those with information are asked to let police know, or call Silent Observer.
