Did you know the SPCA of Southwest Michigan is the largest no-kill shelter in the state of Michigan?

Executive Director of the SPCA of Southwest Michigan, Katie Timber, posted this thank you message on FaceBook this week,

A year of lifesaving.
I want to thank every volunteer and staff member who has helped move the organization forward this year. This year started off by going through a rebrand where the marketing committee worked tirelessly to update the organization’s mission and vision to better reflect our efforts to save lives. Thanks to our combined efforts, the organization received the largestNo-Kill Shelter in Michigan award for the 2 nd year in a row! Almost 1,400 animals were saved and hundreds more families who needed assistance were aided. For the first time in the organizations history, we were also awarded restitution payments on a cruelty case in which extensive resources were provided to save the animal’s life. Although overall donations have been lower this year than last, I am amazed and humbled every day by how many of you help in whatever way you can. You all are so important to me and therefore I have some exciting news to share with you first! We are starting off 2019 with grants from Bissell and the Kalamazoo Community Foundation! These funds will help us improve our in-house spay and neuter capabilities and reduce costs. And, Kalamazeuter, our community spay/neuter program, is already fully sponsored! There is so much work to be done and it is my privilege to help serve our community, especially our four-legged friends. Happy New Year! #helpushelpthem

We have a lot to be proud of here in Kalamazoo.  I would like to send my sincere love and appreciation for all of the hard working staff at the SPCA of Southwest Michigan.  Thank you for everything you do!
