Not long after Antawan Mims made the FBI's Top 10 wanted list for two Benton Harbor murders, he was captured. Now, Mims has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

He was arrested in Georgia in July 2018, just a month after his name made the FBI's Top 10 Most Wanted List. Authorities say Antawan Mims gunned down two men execution-style at a party in Benton Harbor, Michigan. With 100 witnesses and the national spotlight focused on him, Mims soon found himself captured and facing multiple felony charges. A jury found him guilty of 2 first-degree premeditated murder charges in February and now a Berrien County judge has sentenced him to life in prison without parole. Mims has already appealed the ruling.

This is not the first time Federal authorities have become involved in Southwest Michigan crime as Benton Harbor residents asked the FBI to look into 6 deaths across several decades, back in May of 2018. The men all passed away under similar circumstances and were found drowned in the St. Joseph River.
