On Tuesday morning, the Detroit Lions cut backup quarterback David Fales (pictured, #8) and signed QB Luis Perez to a contract.

Fales was signed earlier this offseason to compete for the backup QB job behind starting QB Matthew Stafford, but after appearing in all three preseason games this August, the team has moved on from him.

The Lions now have Perez, Josh Johnson, and the injured Tom Savage under contract as potential backups to Stafford.  The team has one more preseason game to play, at Cleveland on Thursday night.

The team, as well as all NFL teams, have to cut down to 53 players this weekend.
