A Battle Creek man is now in jail after he allegedly committed a brutal attack on his ex-girlfriend.

The Battle Creek Police Department says that officers made contact with a woman who was suffering from severe facial injuries around 1:30am Thursday. The victim told police that she had been attacked, beaten and choked by her ex-boyfriend, who also held her against her will at his place until she could run out and get help.

Near the scene, officers also found that the woman’s cell phone had been set on fire. The victim was taken to the hospital, and while she has facial fractures she is listed in stable condition.

Police obtained a search warrant, entered the home, and arrested the suspect without incident, with assistance from the Emergency Response Team and K-9 units. He’s now facing charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, and felony interfering with a 911 call.
