Veteran football coach Adam Gase, with his roots in Marshall, has landed on his feet, after being dismissed by the Miami Dolphins at the end of the football season. Reports from ESPN say Gase will be named the head coach of the New York Jets.

Gase, referred to by some as "quarterback whisperer", reportedly was given a glowing recommendation by future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, whom Gase coached as an offensive coordinator when both were with the Denver Broncos.

Interestingly, Gase was not a candidate for the Broncos' coaching job which went to Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

With Gase as offensive coordinator, the 2013 Broncos had the highest-scoring offense in NFL history, with Manning throwing a record 55 touchdowns, but they got blown out in the Super Bowl by the Seattle Seahawks. Gase was the offensive coordinator under John Fox, and he followed Fox to the Chicago Bears in 2015. - ESPN
