Meeting Howard Hesseman was one of life's highlights for me.

Any radio person will tell you the significance of his portrayal of 'Johnny Fever' on television's "WKRP In Cincinnati". So many deejays wanted to be him, to act like him, to get away with the stuff he did.

His career began in the 1960s when he was a founding member of the improv group 'The Committee'. He also began acting under the alias 'Don Sturdy', a name he picked up from an adventure character of the same name. There were fifteen 'Don Sturdy' books written as a children's adventure series from 1925-1935. He gave me that information when I asked him where he picked up that name.

We hooked up near Royal Oak back in the early 2000s and he was most gracious and accommodating. I did not get an autograph...but these pictures are worth a lot more to me.
