Meijer Stores Announcing Free Home Delivery Through Jan. 29

When I worked for Meijer back in 1972 until 1975, it was called Meijer Thrifty Acres. That's where my mom did all of our grocery shopping for many years.

That same store is still around on S. Pennsylvania in Lansing. And it's not called Meijer Thrifty Acres any longer, it's just Meijer.

So many people I know shop at Meijer because of reasonable prices and it's very well organized.

Can I tell you how wonderful Meijer is? Meijer stores announced on Monday that they will offer free home delivery to help with the pandemic.

This is a great idea because of the rise of COVID-19 numbers, especially in the mid-Michigan area.

According to mlive.com:

The service is being offered for free to help customers endure the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, said Christina Fecher, Meijer's corporate communications senior manager.

As it stands until Jan. 29, Meijer stores across the Midwest are offering free home delivery on orders more than $35.00.

My family should take advantage of this as well. We spend well over $100 in groceries every single week at Meijer. And the fact that Meijer will deliver groceries for free for the next two weeks is a bonus for everyone.

Customers can order food, beauty products and even beer and wine. Personal shoppers select the items according to shopper preferences and customers now an accept or reject order substitutions in real time, officials said.

On a side note, I have to tell you when I worked for Meijer back in the '70s on S. Pennsylvania, they had an ice cream parlor called "The Purple Cow."

Shoppers loved "The Purple Cow." Once they finished their grocery shopping for the day, many customers would stop by and get a big scoop of ice cream to enjoy.
