The Michigan House of Representatives passed legislation on Tuesday to require marijuana products to have warning labels for pregnant women.

The House Bills 4126 and 4127 will make it so all adult-use and medical marijuana products sold in Michigan show the following message:

WARNING: USE BY PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING WOMEN, OR BY WOMEN PLANNING TO BECOME PREGNANT, MAY RESULT IN FETAL INJURY, PRETERM BIRTH, LOW BIRTH WEIGHT, OR DEVELOPMENTAL PROBLEMS FOR THE CHILD.

Not only will the products need to display this label, but retail stores must also have other information available to customers as well. The stores will be required to provide informational pamphlets that contain marijuana safety information for minors and the poison control hotline.

The bills will now head to the Michigan Senate for review. The next review of the bills will be on Wednesday, August 28th. If the bills pass and are signed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, they will become law. For more information, click here.
