As of today, Michigan is the first state in the entire nation to ban flavored e-cigarettes.

The move was made by Governor Gretchen Witmer, saying that it's a "public health emergency" and that her first priority is to protect the "health of the people of Michigan" and to "keep kids safe."

The ban will be in place for six months and can be renewed for six months after that. It includes retail AND online sales. It will apply to mint and fruity flavors and menthol. It does not, however, cover tobacco-flavored e-cigarettes.

Businesses have 30 days to comply once the filing is completed in "a few weeks." The ban comes after an outbreak of lung illnesses reported as a side effect of vaping, as well as one death.
