Michigan Company Develops an Awesome Product That Will Stop Porch Pirates
Wouldn't it be nice if there was a product that was built right into your home that would stop thieves from stealing your delivered packages off your porch? Well, a company based out of St. Clair County, Michigan did just that.
The product is called The Receptor and it's the first through-the-wall delivery bin. The bin is literally placed into your wall and allows you to access your packages from inside your home. According to Fox 2, the bin is a safe, secure, and weatherproof space where delivery drivers drop off your packages, food orders, and up to eight bags of groceries.
How Do You Access the Bin?
The bin uses a state of the art keypad that allows delivery drivers access. Obviously, you would provide the code to the delivery service. You could also access and control the keypad through your smart phone. There's a panel/door that allows you to access your packages from the inside.
How Do They Install The Receptor?
To install The Receptor, they have to cut a hole in the side of your house. I'm sure the installation would be similar to having windows installed.
How Much Does The Receptor Cost?
The Receptor costs roughly $2,800 which includes installation. Honestly, that's not a bad price considering that they have to literally cut a giant hole into the side of your house. It's also worth it if you're someone that deals with porch pirates.
Personally, I think it's a bit of an eyesore but if you can find a spot to place it that doesn't draw a lot of attention, it would be perfect.
We get deliveries literally every day at my house, thanks to my girlfriend. There was a moment that we were dealing with porch pirates but that quickly came to an end after I filled a box with dog crap and placed it on my porch....problem solved.
