The Kalamazoo County Treasurer's Office is warning people to be on the lookout for more counterfeit money circulating in the area. A counterfeit $10 bill was used for payment at the County Administration building on Tuesday. At first glance the bill appeared to be authentic, however, suspicions were raised due to the texture of the paper and the size of the bill. This follows a similar incident in which a counterfeit $20 bill was put up for payment at the Kalamazoo County District Court. The Treasurer's Office is urging people to pay attention to their money. How can you spot a fake bill? Follow how to check your money using the Secret Service's Know-Your-Money download. If you do suspect a bill in your possession is counterfeit, do not attempt to spend it or bring it to authorities. Instead, contact the Kalamazoo County Treasurer's Office.
