Morris, Gibson added to TV Booth This Season
Tiger Fans will notice a big difference on the TV broadcasts this season, as Kirk Gibson and Jack Morris take turns with current color-commentator Rod Allen.
FOX Sports Detroit says it’s a rotation that will provide Tigers fans with an array of perspectives from hitting, pitching and management. Mario Impemba will continue to provide play-by-play.
"I'm looking forward to getting back in the booth this season,"said Gibson. "I'm excited to offer some insights as both a player and manager on such a talented team and organization as the Detroit Tigers."
Gibson, who has managed the Arizona Diamondbacks for the last five seasons (2010-14), returns to the booth where he served as a color analyst on FOX Sports Detroit from 1998-2002. He began his coaching career as a bench coach for the Tigers from 2003-2005 under manager Alan Trammell. Gibson played 17 seasons in the major leagues with the Tigers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Kansas City Royals and Pittsburgh Pirates. He was also a member of the 1984 World Series champion Tigers and the 1988 Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
Morris found his way into the Tiger telecast booth a few times last season. "It was so great to be back in Detroit for the six games last season,"said Morris. "The fans in Detroit have always been incredible."
The five-time All-Star played on four World Series champion teams, including the 1984 Tigers. He is also a pre-game color analyst and game analyst for Minnesota Twins telecasts on FOX Sports North. He recently worked as an analyst for MLB broadcasts on FOX Sports 1 as well.
The first Tigers' Spring training game this season on FOX Sports Detroit begins on March 22.
