Motorcyclist Dies After Crash With SUV In Portage

A crash between a motorcyclist and a car in Portage has left the cyclist dead, and now authorities are attempting to piece together the picture.

Portage Public Safety says that the crash happened around 7:45pm Tuesday along S. Westnedge Ave. near Andy. A Mazda SUV was turning left out of the Meijer parking lot and into the path of a motorcycle, causing the bike to collide with the vehicle.

The 21-year-old motorcyclist from Portage was killed due to the crash, while the 50-year-old and 17-year-old in the SUV were uninjured.  A stretch of Westnedge was closed in both directions for a couple hours while crews worked the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
