This might be a philosophy I could get behind; not really.

The College Fix news site is reporting about an American University which will be hosting a seminar in February to teach their faculty how to grade their students writing without judging its quality.

In the seminar’s own words:

grading ain’t just grading

A University of Washington-Tacoma professor, Asao Inoue, believes their purpose in this seminar is to pursue “antiracist ends” through writing assessments.

A national scholarly organization called NSA is a network of scholars and citizens:

united by our commitment to academic freedom, disinterested scholarship, and excellence in American higher education

They preach their commitment to academic excellence and believes the seminar is:

destroying the very idea that composition classes should teach all students to write well

NSA believes these professors are:

substituting social justice ideologues’ bigotry for instruction in composition

In his 2015 book titled “Antiracist Writing Assessment Ecologies: Teaching and Assessing Writing for a Socially Just Future.” Professor Inoue states:

We must rethink how we assess writing, if we want to address the racism

He goes on to proclaim that “language standards that just kill our students” by subjecting them to “single standards,” which perpetuate “White language supremacy … despite the better intentions of faculty.”

What does being white have to do with the quality of someone’s writing?

How are writing standards dictated by the color of one’s skin?

Who knows but this “professor” believes it is so and that is what is scary about the quality of education in our schools of higher learning today.
