A police chase that ended with 2 houses and 5 vehicles damaged resulted in the very young suspect getting house arrest.

The 10-year-old Sidney, Ohio boy was just sentenced to house arrest in Shelby County Juvenile Court recently.  The incident happened in early August.  Police responded to a report of a car driving the wrong way as well as ignoring traffic lights and signs according to WDTN.com,

An attempt at a traffic stop was made but the juvenile sped off, eventually striking two houses on Turner Drive. Then, the child crashed into several cars on Lynn Street before coming to a stop.

The young boy was charged with failure to comply with an order of the police, theft, reckless operation and operating a vehicle with an operator's license.  Judge Jeff Beigel wanted justice to be served but also protect the 10-year-old suspect.  Beigel had this to say regarding the charge of failure to comply according to the Sidney Daily News,

“This would be a felony of the third degree if it was committed by an adult,” Beigel told the boy. Possible penalties include from six months in jail until he turns 21; 90 days in detention; $750 in court costs; 500 hours of community service; probation; and not being permitted to have a driver’s license, cellphone or computer access.

This isn't the end of the line for the criminal preceding.  It's just the beginning.  The telephone pretrial was on Sep. 9th.
