The biggest event of the year in Kalamazoo's northern suburb gets underway later this month. The 38th annual Kindleberger Summer Festival of the Performing Arts will be held outdoors in Parchment from Wednesday, July 10th through Sunday, July 14th. The event once again will showcase some of the best theater talent in the region on The Stage at Kindleberger that week, surrounded by several family-friendly activities in the park and at various sites around the city on Saturday.

This year's family musical features a Kalamazoo-area premiere called Disney's Freaky Friday. The musical is based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films. The youth production this year is The Skokie Detective Charter School, which takes the stage before the family musical each of the days during the festival. You can get more info about these shows by CLICKING HERE.

New to the 2019 event is a Festival Friday Fun Night on July 12th from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm in the lower park. Families can come out for a night of music, food, a cornhole tournament, and more.

The traditional Saturday day-long events will be happening again including a parade through Parchment at 10:00 am. The Arts & Crafts show happens from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the lower park with Food Trucks and vendors from several area churches and organizations. The Car Truck & Motorcycle show will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Commerce Lane, just south of the park.

Festival organizers say that the 5K Race/Fitness Walk & Kid's Fun Run have been canceled for this year's event. They say the cancellation was based on a variety of factors, but that they hope to bring back the event next year.
