Kalamazoo firefighters battled a blaze in the 400 block of Wallace Avenue, Sunday, February 3rd, and tried to rescue 31 year-old Zachariah John Hayes, but were hampered by hoarding issues. Heavy smoke and a collapsing roof confronted firefighters, when they first arrived, hoarding issues made a search difficult. As a result, Hayes died in the blaze and authorities have identified a person of interest, that could be connected to the fatal fire.

Melissa Sue Morgan, a white 32 year-old female, is being sought for questioning by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety. She has been seen in several different locations throughout Kalamazoo and VanBuren Counties.
