A recent traffic enforcement effort on I-94 was released this week from the Michigan State Police which shows that they issued over 1,000 tickets to drivers in early June when the campaign was launched according to Local 4, stating:

The campaign, which was conducted between June 3-14, combined outreach and education, along with enforcement to encourage safe driving around trucks as a way to reduce serious and fatal injuries. During the two-week period, motor carrier officers and troopers from the Michigan State Police Jackson, Brighton and Metro South posts committed 907 hours to the campaign and made 1,431 traffic stops. Officers issued 878 citations to passenger vehicles and 175 citations to commercial vehicles.

Michigan State Police also released the results from a 4th of July holiday weekend crackdown recently, which showed that 189 tickets were issued along with 160 verbal warnings. Crackdowns like these are nothing new. The best way to not get a ticket is to put your phone away while driving. If there's an emergency, someone will call you. An addiction to your phone is no reason to get a ticket, or worse, accidentally harming someone.
