UPDATE: Two Killed in Shooting at Central Michigan University
UPDATE: The suspect was apprehended shortly after midnight Saturday morning.
UPDATE: Emanuel Chris Welch, a state representative from Illinois, has tweeted out condolences to the family and friends of a Bellwood Police Officer, James Davis Sr. "and his wife". They are believed to be the parents of the suspect.
UPDATE: Authorities have released a photo of the suspect - 19-year-old James Eric Davis, Jr.
UPDATE: The suspect is believed to still be within the city of Mt. Pleasant. Police had had contact with the suspect Thursday night that he was taken to a local hospital and then released.
UPDATE: The suspect has been identified as 19-year-old James Eric Davis, Jr. He is a black male, standing 5'10" tall and weighing 155 pounds. The two people who were killed were not students at CMU.
UPDATE: The City of Mt. Pleasant has tweeted out a full description of the suspect.
UPDATE: The Detroit Free Press reports that Michigan State Police have confirmed that two people were shot. FOX-17 reports that they have received confirmation that the two people who were shot have died.
UPDATE: The Mt. Pleasant Department of Public Safety has released a brief, vague description of the suspect. Stating only that the suspect is a black male. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Central Michigan University Police are responding to a report of shots fired on the fourth floor of the university's Campbell Hall.
An automated call went out to students just after 9 a.m.
Central Michigan Life posted on Facebook Friday morning, asking that all students and staff stay clear of the area while police investigated.
CMU Tweeted a message to students, telling them to shelter in place around 9:30 a.m.
The City of Mt. Pleasant is also urging students and residents to be aware of their surroundings and call 9-1-1 if they see anything suspicious.
