Kalamazoo authorities are attempting to track down a robbery suspect Wednesday morning.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says in a release that they responded around 12:40am Wednesday to the 400 block of Davis St. There, a 27-year-old woman told police that she had been walking when a man approached her, hit her in the face and tried to take her purse.

He was unsuccessful, and ran off on foot. The KDPS brought in a K-9 unit to track the man, but nothing was turned up. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6 feet tall, wearing a tan beanie, dark Carhartt- style jacket and black pants. If you have any information, please contact police or Silent Observer.
