Light it up! After missing a year due to construction at the high school, one of the areas best 4th of July fireworks shows returns to Portage in 2019 at a new location.

Ramona Park, located on beautiful Long Lake will be the site for fireworks on Friday, July 5, 2019. The Portager, a newsletter sent to all City of Portage residents, shared the good news of the Rotary Club lighting the fuse on the celebration.

After years of conducting the July 4th fireworks at McCamley Field on South Westnedge Avenue, the fireworks display was cancelled last year as a result of the construction of the new Portage Central High School stadium. With construction of the stadium still underway, Portage Rotary along with the City of Portage, identified Ramona Park as a suitable alternative location to conduct this very popular event.

No on street parking will be available, so the plan is to close Ramona Park at 4 pm and the reopen the gates at 6 for event parking. The fireworks will go off at 10:15, with a rain date of July 6. Happy Birthday, America!
