Prince Was Reportedly Scheduled to Meet With an Opioid Addiction Doctor the Day After He Died
Prince died one day before he was planning to receive urgent treatment for an addiction to painkillers, according to the Star Tribune.
Minneapolis attorney William Mauzy said representatives for Prince called opioid addiction specialist Dr. Howard Kornfeld on April 20 because the singer was having a "grave medical emergency." However, Kornfeld reportedly couldn't clear his schedule that day and sent his son and colleague, Andrew Kornfeld, to Paisley Park. Howard Kornfeld was planning to join them the next day.
Mauzy, who is working with the Kornfeld family, said: "The plan was to quickly evaluate his health and devise a treatment plan. The doctor was planning on a lifesaving mission." He also said Andrew Kornfeld was in Prince's home when the singer's body was found in an elevator and Mauzy claims Kornfeld was the person who called 911.
Toxicology tests have not yet determined whether painkillers were present in Prince's body or whether they contributed to his death.
