Longtime New York and national radio personality Don Imus (pictured above) passed away on Friday in a College Station, Texas hospital.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that Imus was hospitalized in Texas since Tuesday (Christmas Eve) and finally passed away on Friday morning.  his cause of death is unknown at this time.

Imus leaves behind his wife Dierdre, and six children.

Don was a prominent radio personality since the 1970's first in New York and then nationally later on.  He discussed everything from politics to music to sports to general pop culture on his famous show "Imus in the Morning.".  He is known as one of the first "shock jocks" in the radio business, for his sometimes controversial beliefs and statements, including the infamous statements about the Rutgers women's basketball team in 2007 that got him fired from CBS.

Imus retired from the media in 2018.  He was 79 years old.
