Grand Rapids Police confirm that the remains located in a Grand Rapids apartment on Sunday are indeed those of Ashley Young. DNA testing confirmed the grim news announced on Friday December 7th.

31 year old Ashley Young was reported missing on Sunday December 2, 2018 after last being seen with Jared Chance in Grand Rapids on Thursday November 29, 2018. No one had heard from Ashley since that Thursday night. Shortly after Ashley was declared a missing persons, remains were located in a building that housed Jared Chance's apartment. 29 year old Chance was arrested and is facing charges of mutilation of a dead body and concealing the death of an individual.

On Wednesday, Grand Rapids police searched the home of Chance's parents in Holland. It's not clear what, if anything, was found.

Chance, who has a long criminal record, has not been charged with murder, but it is being held in jail on a $750,000 bond.

Missing persons advocate Kellie Boers, who was helping with Ashley's missing persons case, had this to say following the decision by Young's family to not make a comment at this time...
from my point of view as an advocate of the missing and who has spoken with many of her family and friends....Ashley is an amazing human being who is kind, always has a smile for everyone who's path she crosses, has a fantastic outlook on what life has to offer and who believes that caring and having love for her friends and family are the best things on earth.....one of her best traits is not only the radiant beauty we can see on the outside, its the beauty that shown from within her heart.~Kellie Boers
