For 17 years the Edmond Fitzgerald was the largest ship on the Great Lakes. Now she holds the record of being the largest ship to sink on the Great Lakes. Carrying iron ore out of Superior, Wisconsin and heading to a mill near Detroit, The Fitzgerald was lost in a storm. Check out this video.

Then, of course, there is a famous song written about the Edmund Fitzgerald.

November 10th, 1975, the Fitzgerald sank and took all 29 crew members with her.
