The Rockford Football team is scheduled to play tonight, after forfeiting last week’s game with Saline.  The reason was that about 30 people associated with the team got sick after a team campout.   The Kent County Health Department says the illness is caused by a microscopic parasite: cryptosporidiosis.   It caused dozens to become sick with nausea and diarrhea.

The department says the athletes apparently were infected through contact with surface water or mud during their team retreat August 12th through 13th.  People can begin showing symptoms of cryptosporidiosis up to 10 days after being infected. Officials say they're confident the primary exposure didn't happen on school property.
