Battle Creek artist Richard Schlatter's "A. Lincoln" is coming home after a winning display at the Grand Rapids ArtPrize.

The Battle Creek Community Foundation tells 95.3 WBCK a rally and celebration was planned for Friday, October 13 at 1:30 p.m. for the arrival of the massive portrait of President Abraham Lincoln made entirely of pennies. At the time of this writing, folks were being encouraged to gather at the State Street parking lot at 1:30 p.m. in order to watch the piece being unloaded and displayed in the window at 32 West Michigan Avenue in downtown Battle Creek, the office of the BCCF.

An exhibit is also planned for Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, October 22, 2017 from noon to 4 p.m. at that same location.

"A. Lincoln", a large portrait made entirely of pennies, won Schlatter the $200,000 public grand prize at ArtPrize. The piece also won the 2-D category.

Schlatter will visit The Richard Piet Show Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 8-8:30 a.m. Meanwhile, check out the gallery below.
