Do you have an objection for “fair and objective Reporting?  Well the U.S. Senate Democrats do.

The Washington Times is reporting about a letter sent from the U.S. Senate Democrats to investigate Sinclair Broadcasting for their promo which promised their viewers that they are committed to balanced journalism and warned that:

some members of the media use their platforms to push their own personal bias and agenda to control exactly what people think

Because the U.S. Senate Democrats were concerned that Sinclair might no longer push their bias and agenda against Republicans they wrote a letter to the Federal Communications Commission chairman Ajit Pai asking him to start an investigation into the Sinclair Broadcasting Group.

The U.S. Senate Democrats stated in their letter:

We are concerned that if the Sinclair-Tribune merger continues without a thorough review of these new facts, Sinclair’s practices of news distortion will proliferate to even more local stations, which Americans rely upon every day for fair and impartial news

They promised to be committed to balanced journalism, is that not what we want from any and all news organizations or sources?

The Federal Communications Commission chairman Ajit Pai wrote back to the U.S. Senate Democrats the following:

Thank you for your letter requesting that the Commission investigate a broadcaster based on the content of its news coverage and promotion of that coverage…In light of my commitment to protecting the First Amendment and freedom of the press, I must respectfully decline…I understand that you disliked or disagreed with the content of particular broadcasts, but I can hardly think of an action more chilling of free speech than the federal government investigating a broadcast station because of disagreement with its news coverage or promotion of that coverage

Sinclair described the uproar as “ironic” and Sinclair senior vice president Scott Livingston stated in a statement:

It is ironic that we would be attacked for messages promoting our journalistic initiative for fair and objective reporting, and for specifically asking the public to hold our newsrooms accountable…Our local stations keep our audiences’ trust by staying focused on fact-based reporting and clearly identifying commentary.

You must ask yourself why the U.S. Senate Democrats would be in such an “uproar” over a news organization committing themselves to “promoting our journalistic initiative for fair and objective reporting”.

There is really only one answer, they might and I just mean might be losing their strangle hold on the Main Stream Manipulative news.  I sincerely doubt they are and believe that Sinclair only said what they said because they have a proposed $3.9 billion acquisition of Tribune Media Company.  They need approval by the government and right now the Republicans hold the power in the Senate, House of Representatives and the Presidency.

Wait and see, as soon as they receive that approval and the acquisition happens they will go back to their unfair and unbalanced reporting.
