It has been confirmed that Christopher Schurr, the Grand Rapids police officer charged in the officer-involved shooting of Patrick Lyoya, is currently an inmate at the Calhoun County Jail.
Sheriff's deputies are searching for a black Dodge Charger that fled the scene of an accident that left a young man dead and are asking anyone with footage to turn it over.
Defendants listed in the suit are the city of Battle Creek, Battle Creek Police Department Chief Jim Blocker, two Battle Creek Police officers, the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners, Calhoun County Sheriff Steven Hinkley as well as a deputy with the sheriff’s department.
Authorities in Calhoun County are searching for the suspects involved with a bold daytime robbery who are believed to be involved with other similar crimes.
