Grab a seat, it's story time. This is a story from about twenty-two years ago. Western Michigan's annual football home opener is known as Comm-University Night. As I remember it, the Comm-University named event started in the early 1990's, and when current athletic director Kathy Beauregard took over in 1997, she kept it going and in fact built on it.
"Never say never". In the face of a spate of season cancellations, it appeared there might not be college football played in Michigan this year. But, first, it was the Big Ten, helped by some contentious arm-twisting, then on Thursday, the Pac-12 and the Mountain West, and finally, today, the MAC joined them, voting to play football late this fall.
