Plainwell-area residents have a new option when it comes to satisfying their sweet tooth! The Sugar Palace just opened for business downtown at 133 Bridge St. Owner Brandie Williams says her in-home cake decorating and sweets business got too big for her home kitchen and needed a space of its own-- that sounds like a good problem to have!

An homage to The Sugar Factory in Chicago, Plainwell's Sugar Palace specializes in "edible art." That includes everything from cakes, cupcakes, cookies, cake pops, muffins, brownies, and more!

Brandie's passion for baking and crafting sweet concoctions is clear, but she says she's also mindful of food sensitivities and can accommodate special orders to include vegan, gluten-free, and diabetic-friendly options. The Sugar Palace Facebook page says, "ALL desserts can be altered to fit food sensitivities, and food allergies needs!!"

At The Sugar Palace personalization is key. You can design your own wedding cake, birthday cake, or any special event cake and customize it with your favorite fillings and designs to your specifications. If you want to think outside the box, Brandie welcomes that too! Having worked in the food service industry since age 14 Williams says she has a passion for food science. Ask her to make something one-of-a-kind and Brandie will find a way!

The Sugar Palace celebrated it's Grand Opening on April 1st, but Brandie has hit the ground running. She says in the coming months she hopes to turn the bakery into a full-service café. With limited mom-and-pop dining options within the Plainwell city limits, I hope Brandie's vision for The Sugar Palace happens sooner rather than later!
