The Detroit Tigers have yet to find their stride on West Coast trips in recent years, and the ground continues to disappear with every step.

The Tigers would have to tie the game twice to send the game to extras, but would in the 10th inning to the Seattle Mariners 5-4 in the second game of their four-game series.

Ian Kinsler (6) and J.D. Martinez (12) each had two hits on the night that included solo homers. Martinez's homer would tie the game at four in the eighth inning. Justin Upton also drilled his 14th round-tripper of the season, and John Hicks added two hits of his own.

Jordan Zimmermann put together a solid start, allowing three runs and fanning seven in 6 2/3 innings. Justin Wilson allowed the winning run to take the loss for the Tigers. He falls to 3-3 on the season.

Game 3 of the series takes place at Safeco Field Wednesday night. Justin Verlander (4-4, 4.50) takes to the mound for the Tigers, and the Mariners send out James Paxton (5-2, 3.23). The Tigers look to break their four-game slide at 9:45pm on 95.3 WBCK.
