The Detroit Tigers were firing on all cylinders, Sunday afternoon. White Sox batters just could not catch up with Matthew Boyd, who allowed no hits through eight innings. Boyd’s no hitter bid was broken up in the 9th. With one out to go, White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson doubled to left. Boyd was one out away from the 8th no-hitter in Tigers history.

Tiger bats got started early. Ian Kinsler started the game with a single to first and then stole second. A single from Candelario would put the Tigers on the board. The Tigers kept up the pace all game, scoring one or more runs in each of the first six innings. Those nine runs would feature home runs from Castellanos and Mahtook and doubles from Jones and Castellanos.

Tiger batters were back at it again in the 8th. Jones would lead off and take a base, after being hit by a pitch. A single from Machado would follow. Two batters later, Candelario delivered a home run to right center, putting the White Sox even further behind them. The Tigers led 12-0 and that’s how the scoring would end.

With the win, the Tigers split the four game series with the White Sox. The Tigers will host Oakland for three, beginning Monday night. Buck Farmer(6.62 ERA) gets the start and the A’s will send out Jharel Cotton(8-10  5.81 ERA). Our coverage begins at 6:45, on 95.3 WBCK.
