The Detroit Tigers have one of the top prospects in baseball, so it is no surprise that he is a finalist for USA Today's  Minor League Player of the Year.

According to USA Today,  the Tigers top prospect, Casey Mize is one of five players that are up for the award.

Mize was recently shut down for the season after pitching most of the year in Double A Erie.

One of the highlights of his first professional season was a no hitter with Erie back in the Spring. He had a 2.55 ERA in starts with Erie and Lakeland.  He also had to deal with a shoulder injury that limited some of his innings.

Mize was drafted by the Tigers number one overall in the 2018 draft.

The overall winner will be chosen by a five person panel.   Fans can vote on who they think should be the player of the year.   You can vote on one of the five finalists here until Friday, August 30th.

The other names on this list include Gavin Lux of the Dodgers, Luis Robert of the White Sox, Ian Anderson of the Braves and Brendan McKay of the Rays.
