Walmart Offers Employees Paid Sick Leave During Coronavirus Outbreak
The enormous retailer is calling this "unprecedented and uncharted times."
The world's biggest box store chain, Walmart, has announced that they will be providing workers with paid sick leave if they are quarantined because of the coronavirus. This comes after one of their employees in Kentucky tested positive for the virus.
Full-time employees are allowed up to 80 paid time off hours every year and part-time employees carried 48 hours of paid time off.
Now, including the two-weeks paid sick time, the retailer is also offering as much as 26 paid weeks off for those who are unable to come back after two weeks because of COVID-19.
I'll tell you why this makes me happy - the only GOOD thing about coronavirus right now is that it's shedding light on how many Americans receive NO paid sick leave and no benefits. This is all a step in the right direction.
