Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has asked President Donald Trump for a major disaster declaration as our state continues to navigate the coronavirus pandemic.

Her request was met with criticism, and the governor immediately fought back.

Trump spoke on the Sean Hannity show (audio below) saying Whitmer is not stepping up.

"I don't know if she knows what's going on, but all she does is sit there and blame the federal government," Trump said. "She doesn't get it done and we send her a lot."

President Trump responded on Twitter saying Michigan's governor has to work harder.

According to CNN, Whitmer told reporters that states should not be fighting with each other in order to obtain supplies.

"Gov. (J.B.) Pritzker in Illinois said, 'You know, we're bidding against one another, that this is the Wild West,' I think is how he phrased it," Whitmer said: "The fact of the matter is, we as Americans shouldn't be bidding against one another. We should be able to harness the federal power to ensure that everyone's got what they need. That's not happening."

Governor Whitmer has also reiterated the importance of her Stay-Home-Stay-Safe order, saying, "This disease cannot spread if we are not out and about.”
