On September 20th and 27th a liberal environmentalist group is asking for all Michiganders to walk of their jobs and demand “climate justice for everyone.”  Will you be joining them?

The Michigan Capitol Confidential news site is reporting that the group named Global Climate Strike stated:

This September, millions of us will walk out of our workplaces and homes to join young climate strikers on the streets and demand an end to the age of fossil fuels…Our house is on fire — let’s act like it.

Really you have homes, how do you heat and power those homes?

By the way how do you get to these jobs you claim you have?

This call to action was posted on the website GlobalClimateStrike.net.  They list the following locations in which you can join other people who might lose their jobs if they actually have one right here in Michigan. They include Marshall, Kalamazoo, Grand Haven Traverse City, Manistee, Mount Pleasant, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Auburn Hills, Ann Arbor, Troy, Dearborn and Port Huron.

What will they be asking for on these walkout days?:

We need to act right now to stop burning fossil fuels

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration as of May of this year:

  • 75% of the homes in Michigan are heated by natural gas
  • Coal-fired generation plants provided Michigan 32% of its electricity
  • Gas produced 27% of its electricity
  • and nuclear plants provided 31% of its electricity
  • By comparison, renewable sources (not including hydroelectric) provided 8% of Michigan’s electricity generation

The Director of Environmental Policy for the Mackinac Center for Public Policy Jason Hayes stated the following:

Our CO2 emissions are 14% below 2005 levels, the six major pollutants tracked by the EPA have decreased by 74% since 1970, but over that same period we’ve increased the amount of energy we use by 44%. Fossil fuels provide the country with over 80% of the energy that we need to power our daily lives, and the rapid improvements in technologies mean that we are now using those fuels far more cleanly and efficiently than we have ever done before. The demands that we stop using them are a suggested cure that is far worse than the perceived disease.

I have a few very simple questions for all people who believe the world is actually getting hotter and it is man-made.

What is supposed to be the ideal temperature of the earth?  Could we be possibly coming out of a cold age and mother earth wants to be warmer.
