Wings’ Riley Sheahan Surprizes Date at Special Dance
Detroit Red Wings forward Riley Sheahan isn’t doing much on the ice this month, with the Wings out of the playoffs. But he did get to show off some dance moves and give a 22-year old cancer patient the surprise of a lifetime.
Morgan Behen is battling an inoperable brain tumor. She was invited to attend a special prom in Detroit on Saturday, organized by Wish Upon a Teen. The group helps young people battling life-threatening conditions. Behen wrote a letter, inviting Sheahan to be her date at the dance. He told the Wings he’d be glad to go, but didn't tell her until he showed up to the event.
Sheahan says he was more nervous getting ready for the date than getting ready for a playoff game, but that it was all good once the two met and started dancing.
Brad Galli of WXYZ was there to cover the event. Here's a link to their video:
Sheahan has also stepped up for the community and donates $100 to the Michigan Humane Society for every point he scores.
