Woods Lake Park, which has been closed since last July, will have a grand reopening celebration on Thursday, May 26th from 4:30-6:30pm. Woods Lake Park is at 2900 Oakland Drive.

The Woods Lake project has been several years in the making and includes a new restroom and changing facility, picnic pavilion, playground, observation deck, fishing pier, walking paths, rain garden, and many landscape improvements. Natural plantings have also been added to enhance the surrounding area.. The City of Kalamazoo received a DNR Trust Fund Grant in the amount of $363,000 for the project.

“The Woods Lake Park improvement project has seen its share of obstacles, but the Parks & Recreation Department is very excited about these improvements to the park that will make it a great place for city residents to enjoy for many years to come,” said Sean Fletcher, Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Kalamazoo.
